Hi, I’m Alethea Cheng Fitzpatrick, NYC based family photographer and photography coach for parents.
I’m also an entrepreneur, mom to two adorable if rambunctious boys, Liam (aged 3.5 yrs) and Jack (aged 8 months) and a former architect and interior designer.
I’ve managed multi-million dollar projects for household brand name companies... and I’ve survived hour long meltdowns from a toddler whilst 8 months pregnant. And I’ve created my business whilst also staying home part time to look after my kids. I’m just one of those moms that knows how to make things happen!
Here’s what you really need to know about me though:
I’m on a mission to help parents more fully experience the precious fleeting moments of their children’s lives through photography.
Although I had a lifelong interest in photography, I didn't truly become a photographer until the day that Liam was born. I picked up my camera because I wanted to soak up every single moment with my children.
At first I wanted to capture the quickly passing moments that would otherwise have faded into a blur and been lost forever. But what I’ve discovered is, more than that, photography heightens my senses and emotions and keeps me present in the moment so I experience it more fully.
Photography doesn’t just capture the moment visually so you can remember what it looked like later.
Photography can capture the moment EMOTIONALLY so you can remember what it FELT like later.
And photography can change the way you SEE and FEEL so that your senses, emotions and memories are heightened even if you DON’T take a photo.
As a mom. I know how quickly the moments pass and how much we want to make sure we both experience the moment fully AND capture it before it disappears. We know that we are losing our kids daily as they grow and change. They are not today who they were yesterday or who they will be tomorrow.
The moments we have with our kids each day, those transcendent moments that epitomize the very best things about being a parent - they are gifts on which we can place no price. Photography helps me honor and celebrate those moments so I don’t take a single one of them for granted.
